Role overview
As our Industrial Forklift and Assembly Specialist, you’ll support both material movement and precision assembly to meet customer expectations and Amsted Rail standards. You will relocate pallets, dies, tubs, baskets, and racks across the department/facility; assist with crating finished export pallets; and produce, inspect, and assemble bearing parts to spec.
What you’ll tackle
Adhere to plant‑wide safety, ergonomics, and environmental requirements defined by Amsted Rail and the Amsted Rail Health & Safety program
Move and stage materials to production areas and shipping/receiving
Complete daily inspection and safe operation of a ride‑on forklift per company guidelines
Execute proper procedures and inspections for safe trailer loading
Scan parts/materials for inventory; use computer and paper checklists to document, track, and communicate movements
Help wrap, crate, and label shipments, including export pallets
Confirm part conformance using reports or gauges in accordance with the departmental quality plan Check work for defects and take appropriate action
Enter production run information into the company computer system
Apply knowledge of operational sequences and finished workpiece dimensions
Maintain a clean, organized workspace per standard work instructions
Alert supervisors, engineering, or maintenance to production issues and assist in resolution
Perform other duties as assigned by leads, supervisors, and managers
What you need Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening
Ability to lift, push, and pull 10 to 50 lbs.
Wear employer‑provided PPE as required by the department
Regularly stand and move throughout the department and shift
Previous industrial experience is a plus Benefits and rewards
