Responsibilities
Registered Nurse Contractor (no benefits), 36/48 Hour Work Week, 15 Week Assignment, $70.00 per hour, 7a - 7p
Poplar Springs Hospital is a 183‑bed acute care and residential facility located in Petersburg, Virginia, 20 minutes south of Richmond. The facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults, adolescents, and active duty military in a 25‑acre setting.
We have a new opening for day shift temporary Registered Nurses. The Registered Nurse is responsible for ensuring the provision of quality nursing care to assigned groups of patients/residents through the nursing process, established standards of care, and relevant policies and procedures. Responsibilities include immediate supervision and coaching/mentoring of assisting personnel, delegation of direct/indirect nursing care activities, and unit maintenance tasks.
Hours will vary and applicants need flexibility with their availability.
QualificationsPosition Requirements
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- CPR Preferred (offered on site)
- Handle With Care Preferred (offered on site)
Education/Experience
- Education, experience and/or training in working with the patient population of the unit of assignment is required either prior to employment or during the initial employment period
General Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia regulation (22
VAC
42‑11‑380) - Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm
- Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Basic clerical skills and experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions
- Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning
