Responsibilities

Nurse Manager -$50,000 Sign-on Retention Bonus

Poplar Springs Hospital is a 183 bed acute care and residential facility located in Petersburg, Virginia. The Nursing Manager is a registered nurse who shares delegated responsibility with the Director of Nursing in all matters related to programmatic issues, unit staff, patient management and care, and daily FTE’s. The Nurse Manager hires and supervises unit nursing staff as assigned and assists the Director of Nursing with compliance to hospital policy and procedures.

Hours will vary and applicants need to have flexibility with their availability.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • CPR Preferred (offered on-site)
  • Handle With Care Preferred (offered on-site)

Education/

Experience:

  • BSN preferred
  • Minimum of (2) years’ experience as an RN required; minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a psychiatric hospital setting or related professional setting preferred
  • Working knowledge of Joint Commission, OSHA State and Federal regulations

General Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Interdepartmental Regulation of Children’s Residential Facilities (22

    VAC
    42-11-380, pg. 43)
  • Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
  • Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions
  • Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning
