Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for starting, monitoring and safely regulating boiler systems and auxiliary equipment. Boiler responsibilities including systems operations, monitoring and controls, water quality & treatment, fuel management, maintenance & repair, safety & compliance and recordkeeping.
  • Perform routine and scheduled preventative maintenance on plant equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Use hand and power tools, blueprints, electrical drawings, engineering specifications, and technical documentation to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, mechanical repairs, welding, equipment replacement, and modifications as needed.
  • Inspect plant equipment and infrastructure for signs of wear, damage, malfunction, or potential equipment failure and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support sump water management, pit cleanliness, conveyor system and related equipment.
  • Service equipment associated with assigned maintenance and operational projects.
  • Prepare for on-site installations and repairs by identifying required materials, anticipating potential challenges, and coordinating project requirements.
  • Support preventative maintenance projects, special operational service requests, and facility improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, shift documentation, performance reports, and other required paperwork or on-line CMMS.
  • Identify parts and materials required for repairs, determine urgency, and coordinate purchasing needs.
  • Track parts, materials, labor, subcontractor services, and other costs associated with maintenance assignments and return unused resources.
  • Provide technical and maintenance support to the Plant Supervisor and Operations team.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety requirements, procedures, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas and follow required lockout/tagout, confined-space, PPE, and other applicable safety procedures.
  • Participate in mandatory position-related medical screening as required by company safety programs and consistent with business necessity.
  • Work overtime, weekends, and alternate shifts as operational needs require.
  • Work to coordinate specific vendors for preventative maintenance and inspections including but not limited to fire alarm systems, flow valves, waste water, boiler inspections, forklifts, HVAC and others.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements

Associate's degree from a Technical or Trade School, five (5) years of related maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, manufacturing, processing, or a similar plant environment.

Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial maintenance skills.

Experience with electrical troubleshooting, electrical repair, and reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics.

Welding experience or working knowledge of welding applications.

Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and basic PLC troubleshooting preferred.

Basic understanding of preventative maintenance processes, industrial safety practices, and terminology associated with plant, manufacturing, or distribution environments.

Proficiency in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance equipment.

Ability to diagnose equipment issues, determine appropriate corrective actions, and complete repairs safely and efficiently.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision while effectively managing and prioritizing multiple responsibilities.

Ability to work collaboratively with Operations, Plant leadership, vendors, and other team members.

Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand for extended periods, including periods of up to three (3) hours.
