Job Description:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Studio Art Assistants maintain and oversee all studios within the NCMC Art and Design area. The studios include: 18A, 18B, 18C, 18D, 18E and 27. Studio Art Assistants receive a master key to access the main art classroom doors, as well as the supply closets in each room. Up to 20 hours per week; with at shift schedule built around a students' class schedule.

$12.50 per hour

DUTIES:

1. Open and/or close all studios during the open studio hours each semester (determined at the beginning of each semester).

2. Be present in the studios during the shift.

3. Assist students with questions, concerns, and equipment needs.

4. Walk through each studio throughout each shift, being aware of who is working and how many students are in the area.

5. Help keep the studios clean and organized during each shift.

6. Meet with each Art faculty member to ensure tasks within each area of the department are being completed.

a. Example:
The ceramics area needs material prep, cleaning (such as tables, wheels, sinks), mixing glazes, checking torches, etc.

7. Other related duties as assigned by an Art faculty member.

Requirements:

Student Employees must meet guidelines as set by North Central Michigan College in the Student Employee Definition and follow policies and procedures of the College.

Student Employees must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at NCMC.
