Community Development Engineer

As a Community Development Engineer, you will leverage your engineering expertise to develop construction plan sets, ensuring adherence to team standards, performing design calculations, and conducting project QA/QC. You will also contribute to planning and funding processes by assisting in the development of project scopes and budgets.

• Preparing and managing project scope, schedule, and budget for proposals and contracts.
• Coaching and overseeing team development, managing sub‑consultants, and controlling expenses during project execution.
• Communicating project goals, alternatives, recommendations, and outcomes effectively to the team, clients, and the public through memos, reports, and presentations.
• Proactively identifying project issues, advising clients on alternatives, and recommending effective solutions.
• Ensuring timely and accurate completion of OHM and sub‑consultant invoices and collections.
• Fostering business development and enhancing client satisfaction.
• Understanding OHM's services and their relevance to client needs.

• A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in traffic design, traffic control, and utility coordination.
• Experience in municipal street and utility projects and/or roadway/highway design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
• Familiarity with MDOT Project Wise and related design criteria and manuals is preferred.

• Ability to cultivate strong client relationships.
• Desire and capacity to mentor junior engineers and interns.
• Strong organizational skills and a passion for teamwork.
