The Talent Acquisition Specialist leads full-cycle recruitment and selection for the Enterprise at Odawa Casino Resort. This onsite role in Petoskey, Michigan focuses on sourcing and screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and ensuring hiring activities meet Tribal Preference provisions and applicable gaming regulatory requirements.

Role Overview

The Talent Acquisition Specialist manages the end-to-end hiring process, including candidate attraction, application screening, interview coordination, and offer administration. The position emphasizes compliance with Tribal Preference laws, organizational hiring policies, and regulatory requirements, while advising hiring managers on recruiting and selection practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and related recruitment databases.
  • Post, maintain, and monitor job vacancies on internal and external recruitment platforms.
  • Source qualified candidates through networking, job boards, social media, professional associations, and workforce development partners.
  • Screen applications and resumes to identify qualified candidates.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews between candidates and hiring managers.
  • Participate in candidate interviews and support managers with selection decisions.
  • Conduct reference checks, pre-employment testing, and employment verification as required.
  • Coordinate background checks, credential verification, drug testing, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) reviews, and other pre-employment requirements.
  • Prepare and extend conditional and final employment offers.
  • Communicate hiring decisions and next steps to candidates.
  • Ensure recruitment activity compliance with Tribal Preference laws, employment policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Train and advise hiring managers on recruitment, interviewing, and selection practices.
  • Develop structured interview guides, selection criteria, and candidate evaluation tools.
  • Assist departments with recruitment strategies for difficult-to-fill positions.
  • Serve as an internal consultant to departments on recruitment and employment-related matters.
  • Review hiring recommendations for compliance with Tribal Preference and organizational policies.
  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in job fairs, career events, and recruitment activities.
  • Build partnerships with Tribal organizations, educational institutions, workforce agencies, and community organizations.
  • Represent the organization at recruiting events and community functions while promoting employment opportunities and organizational culture.
  • Support employer branding and recruitment marketing efforts.
  • Develop and coordinate internship, apprenticeship, and workforce development programs.
  • Support initiatives that build candidate pipelines and succession planning efforts.
  • Identify opportunities to improve recruitment processes and candidate experiences.
  • Assist with workforce analytics and recruitment metrics for organizational planning.
  • Process employment applications and maintain recruitment records, employment files, and hiring documentation.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, hiring packets, and recruitment-related communications.
  • Maintain accurate candidate and recruitment data within HR systems.
  • Coordinate travel and accommodations for executive-level candidates when required.
  • Assist with recruitment advertising budget development and monitoring.
  • Compile recruitment reports and metrics as requested.
  • Maintain employment postings on organizational websites and bulletin boards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of applicant, employee, and organizational information.
  • Attend required meetings, training programs, and professional development activities.
  • Support Human Resources projects and initiatives as assigned, including working at other organizational properties and locations as needed.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree and three (3) years of recruiting, talent acquisition, or human resources experience; OR
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, or human resources, including at least two (2) years in a recruitment-focused role.
  • Experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other recruitment technologies.
  • Knowledge of recruitment, selection, interviewing, and employment practices.
  • Strong understanding of Tribal Preference requirements and applicable employment laws.
