Job Location:
Petoskey Plant – Petoskey, MI 49770
Position Type:
Full Time. Shift: Night (2-2-3 schedule). The Production Shift Manager leads teams to safe and efficient manufacturing of quality products while building a strong, accountable culture.
- Promote workplace safety and lead the team’s Safety Program
- Lead safety discussions with associates, audit safety practices during walk‑arounds
- Be present for scheduled shifts and attend management team meetings as necessary
- Review and suggest improvements to the production schedule
- Evaluate staffing levels, maintain budgeted headcount, and collaborate with HR to fill gaps
- Provide on‑the‑job training for associates in all areas of their duties
- Uphold housekeeping standards, inspect each line and update line charts with relevant data and comments
- Assist in planning for job changes with line technicians and conduct daily audits of operator performance
- Identify limiting factors of production and recommend continual improvement
- Prepare work orders for repairs, submit requisitions for replacement of equipment, and submit requests for preventive maintenance
- Document department procedures and work instructions, updating as needed
- Approve time and attendance records and assignments across departments using timekeeping software
- Accurately complete production reports and detail run‑time reports
- Collaborate with HR to conduct coaching sessions for associates
- Adhere to and enforce company policies consistently
- Maintain accurate records for safety, production, scrap quality, and HR
- Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS), including QA scrap and first‑piece approvals
- Schedule regular communication meetings to promote team building and continuous improvement
- Report all safety, HR, quality, scrap and production issues to manager
- Attend training seminars as required
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
- Education:
High School Diploma or Associate’s Degree - Experience:
5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or a closely related field - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- PE Blown Film experience preferred
- Ability to coach and provide performance management individually
- Proven track record of meeting quantitative metrics
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Experience with Continuous Improvement projects
- Strong leadership to motivate a team
- Dedication to Quality Management System
- Safety, production, scrap and quality oriented
- Excel skills for charting, graphing, and inventory tracking
- Proficient in blueprint reading and mechanical tasks
- Regular and reliable attendance
