The Men’s House Supervisor is a position that is vital to the day-to-day operations of The Nehemiah Project. This role is responsible for the men’sshelter, including case-management with guests, working with volunteers,and upkeep of the facilities.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform the intake of all male guests.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and oversee the behaviors and follow-through of all male guests, using the Supervisor’s best judgment to support positive outcomes for both the guest and The Nehemiah Project.
  • Discharge guests as necessary according to The Nehemiah Project policies/guidelines andunder the advisement of The Nehemiah Project Director.
  • Personally meet with each guest on at least a weekly basis to provide spiritual guidance and provide practical input into their life situation.
  • Collaborate with various agencies, organizations, churches, and individuals to provide wraparound care for guests.
  • Train, mentor, and oversee the activities and conduct of all Men’s House Innkeepers in keeping with The Nehemiah Project standards, policies and guidelines. Conduct a monthly meeting with all Men’s House Innkeepers.
  • Be available and on call to handle any situations that may arise during the time that guests are in the house. If no innkeeper is scheduled or is unable to fill a shift the Supervisor will secure a substitute or fill in as the Innkeeper.
  • The Supervisor is responsible for the cleanliness and safe operation of the Men’s House.
  • Perform various administrative tasks necessary for Men’s House record keeping, including keeping detailed case notes on all guests.
  • Be willing to share publicly about The Nehemiah Project to spread awareness, recruit volunteers, and to fundraise.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Preferred at least 2 years of social work experience, ideally in a ministry or nonprofit setting.
  • Familiarity with resources available for people in homeless situations.
Skills and abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to connect with people in crisis. Including those dealing with mental illness and addiction issues.
  • Willingness to address situations that may be awkward or cause conflict.
  • Ability to de-escalate emotionally charged situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic data entry.
  • Able to disciple guests spiritually and provide Biblical guidance and advice.
  • Teach/lead Bible studies and devotionals.
  • Warm, compassionate demeanor, especially when interacting with individuals in crisis.
Physical:
  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform job functions.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret written documents.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance. Reliable transportation required for out-of-office travel.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Faith:
  • Must provide a clear biblical testimony of a personal experience of receiving, by faith, the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and give evidence of His presence in daily living (Romans 6:13; Ephesians 4:20-32; Philippians 1:9-11, 3:7-11).
  • Actively seek the unity of believers.
  • Exhibit Christian maturity and be a member in good standing of a local Christ-centered church.
  • Possess a desire to serve in meeting the physical, spiritual, emotional, and relational needs of the homeless, hungry, and hurting, pointing them to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and teaching and modeling biblical stewardship and godly, interdependent living.
