Registered Nurse – Med Surg | Petoskey, MI | 13 Weeks Contract

We’re seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Med Surg to join a dedicated healthcare team in Petoskey, MI.

  • Weekly Pay: $2,280 to $2,480
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients
  • Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
  • Monitor vital signs, pain levels, neurological status, respiratory status, and other clinical indicators
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments safely
  • Manage IV lines, central lines, drains, catheters, wound-care needs, and other patient-care devices
  • Recognize early signs of deterioration and promptly communicate concerns to physicians and the clinical team
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, procedures, treatments, and discharge activities
  • Provide wound care, post-operative care, and other treatments according to patient needs and provider orders
  • Monitor patients for complications and initiate appropriate nursing interventions
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, recovery, and discharge instructions
  • Promote fall prevention, infection prevention, mobility, nutrition, hydration, and overall patient safety
  • Respond appropriately to rapid responses, emergencies, and significant changes in patient condition
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, CNAs, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Support discharge planning and continuity of care
  • Follow facility policies, infection prevention procedures, HIPAA requirements, and patient safety standards
Qualifications
  • Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience
  • Current BLS Certification required
  • Current ACLS Certification preferred or required by facility
  • Strong knowledge of adult medical-surgical nursing principles
  • Experience with medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, and patient assessment
  • Experience caring for patients with multiple medical conditions preferred
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Excellent clinical judgment, critical-thinking, and assessment skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to prioritize effectively during night-shift operations
  • Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
