Key Accountabilities- Perform fitting work on service construction or repair crews, drive needle bars, make detector tests, stake Miss Dig, inspect meter manifolds and inside service piping for leaks, and conduct other survey activities.
- Execute leak and meter orders, including all related tasks.
- Operate trenching equipment, tractors, compressors, and other mechanical equipment.
- Install and adjust domestic and commercial appliances, including range lines, service regulators, small meter manifolds, and hot water heaters.
- Assist higher classification technicians with conversion work and gas appliances such as gas grills, lights, fireplace logs, and fuel lines.
- Lead up to three employees during construction survey, concrete or cement finishing, or repair work.
- Make tie‑ins on all distribution system mains, install gauges and street regulators, and handle leak complaints.
- Keep accurate records of new construction and repair work, produce simple drawings, and maintain records of services.
- Brace and barricade trenches safely to protect the public and crew.
- Make adjustments on space heating units and gas‑fired air conditioning units, as well as on industrial equipment and meter manifolds.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record (eight points or less).
- Pass DOT Drug Test, DOT Physical, respirator fit test, required testing and training, and background check.
- Pass pre‑employment assessment(s).
- Obtain or have the ability to obtain a valid Group A Commercial Driver’s License (CDLA) with Air Brake Endorsement; if not, obtain a Temporary Permit (TIP) during pre‑hire.
- Be certified to wear self‑contained breathing apparatus.
- Accept odd shifts, on‑call, emergency assignments, and overtime per the collective bargaining agreement.
- Lift and move equipment up to approximately 95 lbs (jackhammer).
- Climb in and out of excavation holes.
- Communicate verbally and in writing.
- Use hand tools requiring upper body forces up to 40 lbs.
- Experience in natural gas operations.
- Knowledge of OSHA and pipeline safety regulations.
- Excavation or construction experience.
- HVAC experience or certification.
- Customer service experience.
