Job Description

Seeking a reliable Automotive Mechanic to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team. The Automotive Technician will be responsible for maintaining a diverse range of equipment, including delivery vehicles, heavy‑duty on‑road tractors, and trailers from various manufacturers. These vehicles’ propulsion systems include diesel, gasoline, and alternative technologies such as compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid, and electrical in some locations.

Responsibilities

and Duties
  • Meet D.O.T. requirements required by job assignment.
  • Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders and stairs, stand, walk, and turn/pivot frequently throughout duration of workday.
  • Sit infrequently, as required, throughout duration of workday.
  • Exercise simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reach from foot level to above shoulder level as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Operate standard and manual transmission.
  • Operate power and pneumatic tools.
Requirements
  • Must have an active driver’s license issued by the state.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Must be willing to work 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. shift, Monday–Friday.
  • Must possess the required hand tools to perform the applicable job assignment.
  • Valid chauffeur’s license – required.
  • State of Michigan Brake Certification – required.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Current documented Journeyman Automotive Mechanic experience.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and personal computer.
  • Hands‑on experience with fleet repairs, welding and cutting.
  • Experience performing DOT inspections in trucks.
  • Dependable with ability to report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete scheduled workday on a consistent basis.
  • Available to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime depending on service needs.
  • Wears personal protective equipment as required.
  • Works in an environment with variable temperatures and humidity, exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt and noise, outside inclement weather, etc.
  • Works cooperatively in a diverse work environment.
  • Communicates effectively through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.
Compensation and Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The starting pay for this position is $41.63 with a one‑year progression to top pay $46.25 per hour. For union‑represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.

Hired applicants are eligible for weekly pay, extensive training, 401(K), defined‑benefit pension plan, medical‑dental and vision after waiting or probation period, $0 healthcare premium, paid vacation, paid sick and family and medical leave time as required by law, paid holidays, discounted employee stock purchase program.
