Summary of Responsibilities

We're looking for a Safety Program Manager who will lead and evolve ATC's Safety Program while advancing a culture where work is always performed safely. This role combines strategic program leadership, field engagement, continuous improvement, training, risk management, and stakeholder influence to help prevent serious injuries, illnesses, and fatalities across our organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

What You'll DoLead Enterprise Safety Programs
  • Manage and continuously improve ATC's Safety Program.
  • Conduct program gap assessments and advance improvement priorities.
  • Integrate safety concepts throughout the organization.
  • Research and apply leading safety and industry practices.
  • Support organizational safety culture change.
Influence Safety Culture
  • Drive adoption of safe work practices across the organization.
  • Coach leaders, employees, and partners on safety program components and expectations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and point of contact for Safety Liaisons.
  • Promote learning, accountability, proactive hazard recognition, and risk reduction.
Partner Across the Business
  • Collaborate with Safety Liaisons, Field Operations, contractors, alliance partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to quarterly safety forums, operational teams, and safety councils.
  • Build productive internal and external partnerships that strengthen safety performance.
Support Field Operations & Risk Management
  • Conduct field visits and job hazard analyses.
  • Evaluate workplace hazards and recommend engineering controls, administrative controls, protective equipment, and training.
  • Support contractor safety efforts, safe work planning, and the identification of serious injury and fatality risks.
Deliver Training & Communications
  • Develop and provide training on safety practices, operational work rules, and transmission clearance and switching practices.
  • Design, develop, and maintain ATC-wide safety procedures.
  • Translate complex safety requirements into clear, practical guidance for diverse audiences.
Use Data to Drive Improvement
  • Analyze safety information, trends, and leading indicators.
  • Turn data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Use reporting, dashboards, and performance measures to support decisions and program maturity.
What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited college with coursework in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, electric power, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Field and office safety experience involving hazard audits, pre-job safety briefs, accident investigation, case management, and job hazard analysis.
  • Minimum of three years of experience driving company-wide programs, preferably in safety, continuous improvement, or resiliency.
  • Experience writing safety procedures and policies and developing and presenting safety training.
  • Familiarity with electrical utility and construction regulations and safety procedures, including protective card procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams, develop productive working relationships, and lead stakeholders from different business functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and use information to influence business decisions at all organizational levels.
  • Familiarity with High Energy Controls Assessments and human performance tools.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, lead the work of others, and operate with minimal direction.
Preferred Experience & Credentials
  • Electric utility, transmission, construction, infrastructure, industrial operations, or related safety experience.
  • Contractor safety program experience and experience supporting a contracted workforce.
  • Enterprise safety program ownership, maturity assessments, or continuous improvement.
  • Emergency preparedness, incident response, drills, exercises, or resiliency program experience.
  • Professional certification through a utility safety, safety engineering, certified safety professional, or National Safety Council organization.
