Fire Protection Estimator

Location:

Greater Milwaukee Area, WI (Onsite) Salary: $65,000 - $90,000 (Depends on experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Fire Protection Estimator to support commercial and industrial construction projects through accurate cost analysis, project takeoffs, and proposal development. This role is responsible for reviewing construction documents, evaluating project requirements, and preparing detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor estimates for fire protection systems.

The ideal candidate has experience analyzing plans and specifications, coordinating with vendors and project teams, and developing competitive estimates that support successful project execution. This individual will play an important role in securing new business, maintaining estimating accuracy, and ensuring smooth project handoffs to operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, bid documents, and other construction-related documentation
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates for fire protection systems
  • Utilize estimating software and internal pricing tools to prepare accurate project bids
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
  • Collaborate with sales, project management, engineering, and operations teams during the estimating process
  • Prepare bid packages, proposals, and supporting documentation
  • Participate in project turnover meetings and support project startup activities
  • Track bid activity and maintain estimating records and databases
  • Analyze actual project costs versus estimated costs to improve future estimating accuracy
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, and subcontractors regarding project requirements and scope clarification
  • Assist project management teams with forecasting and cost analysis as projects progress
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating procedures and best practices

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of estimating experience in construction, mechanical contracting, fire protection, or a related industry
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software platforms
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and construction-related environments
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Preferred

  • Experience estimating fire sprinkler, fire suppression, or fire protection systems
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Familiarity with commercial and industrial construction projects
  • Knowledge of NFPA standards and fire protection industry practices
  • Experience working with subcontractor and vendor pricing
  • Understanding of project management and construction operations processes
  • Experience with estimating software and database management systems
