Prairie Hill Waldorf School is seeking a full-time Kindergarten Assistant.
The Kindergarten Assistant works closely with the Lead Kindergarten Teacher and the Early Childhood department to help create a nurturing, orderly, and beautiful learning environment.
AboutFounded in 1987, Prairie Hill Waldorf School is a full member of AWSNA and WECAN, serving 179 students from Pre‑K through Grade 8. Our 14‑acre campus features gardens, wetlands, and wooded areas and is located in Wisconsin’s Lake Country between Milwaukee and Madison. We are deeply committed to sustainability, beauty, and holistic education.
Responsibilities Include:
- Classroom set up and clean up
- Supporting the lead teacher with the children during outdoor and indoor play and activities
- Assisting with lunch preparation and transitions
- Guiding children into bathroom and rest time through songs, stories, and gentle care
- Supporting children as they rise and clean up after rest time
- Attending weekly Early Childhood mentor meetings and monthly department meetings
Qualifications:
- Prior teaching or childcare experience required
- Waldorf training or certification strongly preferred
- Strong communication and conflict‑resolution skills
- Ability and willingness to work collaboratively within a community environment
- Effective classroom management skills
- Enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and teamwork
