Queen of Apostles is a vibrant faith community in Pewaukee where nearly 900 families gather to encounter Christ and grow as his disciples. Our parish is known for genuine hospitality, active faith, and compassionate service. We are seeking a passionate, part-time Assistant Director of Faith Formation to join our collaborative ministry team and help shape the faith lives of our young people and families.
JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Assistant Director of Faith Formation assists in the faith formation and evangelization of children, youth, young adults, and adults through the Catholic Church. This position primarily manages faith formation and evangelization of middle school youth (grades 6 through
8) and preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist of children (grades 2 and up). The Assistant Director facilitates OCIA adapted for children and youth as needed, and works with the pastor and the Director of Music and Liturgy for sacramental liturgies.
Key responsibilities include directing a comprehensive middle school ministry program, including Mission of Mercy (a week-long day-only summer service experience in collaboration with neighboring parishes); recruiting, training, and supporting catechists and volunteers; providing opportunities for parent engagement; and ensuring compliance with Archdiocesan Safe Environment requirements. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with the Director of Faith Formation and parish staff to integrate worship into faith formation and welcome families into parish life.
QUALIFICATIONSSkills, Knowledge, and/or Requirements
- Ability to articulate Catholic theology in light of the Second Vatican Council
- Understanding of faith formation and evangelization methodologies
- Computer skills including word-processing, budgeting, and communication
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to recognize and honor diversity within the community
- Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality
Education, Training, and/or Experience
- Bachelor's Degree with a major in Religion, Education, or the equivalent
- Eligible for Basic Religious Education Certification from the Archdiocese
- Eligible for compliance with Archdiocesan Safe Environment requirements
- Two years or more experience in a church or parochial school setting as a teacher, administrator, or catechist

- Close vision required for paperwork and computer
- Able to utilize computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone
