Instructor - CDL & Driving

Waukesha County Technical College is seeking an experienced and dedicated full-time CDL-A Truck Driving Instructor to inspire, train, and prepare students for successful careers in commercial transportation. Through leadership by example, our new team member will provide instruction, administer authentic assessments, and foster an active learning environment that is focused on student foundational competence, success, retention, and completion.

• Develop and maintain course curriculum. Align curriculum to departmental, state, and/or other applicable standards and outcomes.
• Plan, deliver and facilitate student learning, including providing ongoing quality feedback to students.
• Assess student attainment of learning outcomes and critical life skills (both formative and summative), at the course, program, and college level.
• Collect, report, analyze, and use data to support continuous improvement at the course, program and college level.
• Use technology to facilitate student learning, college processes, and personal productivity.

• Intermediate level of proficiency with computer software applications such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation programs. Knowledge of and familiarity with video-conferencing and technologies associated with adult-centric teaching and learning, as well as within specific programmatic disciplines, which may include web technologies, operating systems, online program tracking platforms, social media platforms, mobile technology tools, and/or AV/multimedia applications and equipment.
• Ability to obtain and keep a Fed Med (Department of Transportation Physical Evaluation).
• Ability to pass a DOT Physical and Drug Screen as well as maintain a Commercial Driver License.

• Seven (7) years or 14,000 hours of current industry experience driving a Tractor Trailer.
• Must possess a current Commercial Driver’s License with the appropriate endorsements at a level equal to or greater than the desired Class of license being instructed. (Candidates must possess a CDL with all manual transmission limitations removed and be qualified to operate and instruct using manual transmission commercial vehicles.)
• Attain and maintain a WTCS teaching certificate.
