Academic Coach
This position is responsible for delivering high-quality academic coaching for students needing additional assistance in Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry. Designed to enhance students' understanding of subject matter, improve study skills, and contribute to the students' overall academic achievements, the position provides academic coaching in the WCTC Science Center on a walk-in basis.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of Biology on at least a baccalaureate level
- Understanding of pedagogy. Knowledge of working with students learning differences preferred. Proficiency in using educational technology and online resources for coaching sessions.
- Ability to work effectively with students, both in one-on-one and group instruction situations
- Ability to think critically by applying problem solving practices
- Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written, technical and non-technical information, and listening
- Strong customer service skills, working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team and/or with minimal supervision
- Basic level of proficiency with computer software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations and/or publishing., learning management systems
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or closely related field;
Master's degree preferred. - Training and teaching experience in an educational setting required. Previous teaching experience required.
