Highway Design Engineer

Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct multiple highway design projects for Wisconsin DOT and other clients. Provide client leadership, mentor junior staff, and manage internal project teams while ensuring regulatory compliance and QA/QC procedures are followed.

• Maintain close client relationships throughout project development and after completion.
• Lead project design decisions, including complex calculations and design approaches.
• Prepare project scopes, approaches, and fees, and present proposals to clients.
• Perform QA/QC, verify accuracy of completed work, and ensure project objectives are met.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Wisconsin or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in highway design and construction of WisDOT projects.
• Ability to travel as needed for client meetings and on‑site inspections.
• Experience with Micro Station, Geo Pak, or ORD (Open Roads Designer) preferred.

• Minimum of five (5) years design experience.
• Supervisory and/or mentoring experience in highway design.
• Active participation in professional organizations, conferences, and technical publications.
• Previous experience with a civil engineering consulting firm doing design.

Location

Pewaukee, WI is preferred but open to anywhere in Wisconsin.

Compensation
:
Base salary expected to be in the range of $90,000 to $110,000 based on skill set and experience.
