Financial Aid Representative
The Financial Aid Representative provides individualized assistance to students and families regarding the availability, eligibility, and application process for financial aid. This position supports student success by guiding applicants through FAFSA completion, reviewing documentation, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and promoting financial literacy. The Representative contributes to student access and retention through high-quality advising, collaboration with campus partners, and proactive student support.
Responsibilities- Advise current and prospective students on financial aid options, eligibility, and the application process.
- Assist students with completing the FAFSA, resolving errors, and submitting required documentation.
- Perform outreach to students selected for verification to assist them with understanding the necessary steps to meet the requirements of the verification process.
- Provide current and prospective students with information on scholarships, grants, work‑study opportunities, and loans to support the financial aid packaging process.
- Educate students on loan responsibilities, repayment options, SAP requirements, and financial wellness.
- Assist with the resolution of students’ financial aid issues and appeals related to Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policies.
- Respond to student inquiries via phone, email, and in‑person appointments.
- Participate in outreach events, orientations, and financial aid workshops on campus and in the community.
- Collaborate with Admissions, Advising, and the Business Office to deliver a coordinated student experience.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal and state regulations.
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping and data entry in the financial aid management system.
- Basic math and data entry skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Banner or similar student information systems preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information and work with varying student populations.
- High School diploma (or GED); associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 0-2 years experience in customer service, clerical, administrative, or student services setting.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
