The OpportunityHarken is seeking a Buyer II to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for purchasing, scheduling and monitoring assigned materials to support production requirements, inventory objectives, customer demand and overall company goals. This role works closely with suppliers and internal departments to ensure parts availability, cost effectiveness, quality performance and on‑time delivery.
What you will do- Issue and manage purchase orders for components and indirect goods using Microsoft Dynamics D365.
- Monitor supplier delivery again PO dates to prevent supply disruptions.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and payment terms with prospective and existing suppliers.
- Work with AP and Quality to resolve invoice discrepancies, supplier non‑conformances and RMA’s.
- Research new and maintain existing supplier relationships that support quality improvement, cost reduction, on‑time delivery and overall supply continuity.
- Request and evaluate supplier quote for best pricing, quality and delivery while assessing total cost of ownership.
- Support Engineering on new product sourcing process: quoting, prototypes, PPAP runs and initial production runs.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives within assigned commodities by benchmarking market pricing, competitive bidding, and supplier moves.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Education and Experience
- 3 years of buying or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance or related field of study, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working with MRP/ERP system for purchasing and inventory control
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamic 365 operating system
- CSCP or CPIM certification
- Experience reading BOM’s and drawings used in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient at using Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as function effectively in cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to communicate professionally with suppliers and internal customers
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as work independently as needed
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and sense of urgency when addressing material or supplier concerns.
