Salary range: $20.00 to $40.00 per hour.

Sign-On Bonus

North Central Utility is offering a sign‑on bonus of $2,500 for the Trailer Technician/Mechanic position. The bonus will be paid in installments over the first 18 months of employment, starting with the first paycheck.

North Central Utility (NCU) is looking for a self‑motivated, results‑driven Service/Trailer Technician to represent NCU in the semi‑trailer service industry.

NCU is one of the largest semi‑trailer dealerships in the nation and the largest in the North Central region, with 10 locations across Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota. We offer reefer, dry van, and flatbed trailers from Utility Trailer Manufacturing, as well as vocational trailers from MAC Trailers in Wisconsin. Our service department provides routine maintenance, certified DOT inspections, precision laser alignment, and full wreck repair for all trailer makes and models.

This position is safety‑sensitive and requires pre‑employment and post‑accident drug testing.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform a variety of repairs on semi‑trailers
  • Perform steel, stainless steel, and aluminum welding
  • Diagnose and repair air and electrical systems
  • Conduct DOT inspections (or become certified)
  • Repair trailer bodies
  • Follow company repair and safety best practices
  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment
  • Use and promote PPE and safety equipment
  • Assist other technicians as needed
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Basic set of tools and prior experience preferred
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
