Job SummaryThe Route Driver represents the company while delivering and picking up freight.
Hours and Wages- Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM to completion of route
- 10–15 hours of overtime may be expected each week; voluntary OT on weekends as needed
- Paid overtime at time and a half after 40 hours per week
- Starting wage: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour, based on experience
- Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
- Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
- Load the truck in an organized manner to use space effectively and prevent damage to packages
- Collect payments for certain packages delivered
- Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
- Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
- Maintain professional appearance and cleanliness of vehicle
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Ability to operate a manual transmission, or willingness to learn
- Good customer service skills and ability to work independently
- At least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record that meets company standards
- Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
- Ability to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, and move freight on and off the vehicle
- Ability to lift and move freight weighing up to 100 pounds
- Ability to handle hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
