Job Summary

The Route Driver represents the company while delivering and picking up freight.

Hours and Wages
  • Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM to completion of route
  • 10–15 hours of overtime may be expected each week; voluntary OT on weekends as needed
  • Paid overtime at time and a half after 40 hours per week
  • Starting wage: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour, based on experience
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
  • Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
  • Load the truck in an organized manner to use space effectively and prevent damage to packages
  • Collect payments for certain packages delivered
  • Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
  • Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
  • Maintain professional appearance and cleanliness of vehicle
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission, or willingness to learn
  • Good customer service skills and ability to work independently
Education and Experience
  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record that meets company standards
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
  • Ability to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, and move freight on and off the vehicle
  • Ability to lift and move freight weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to handle hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
