Summaryof Position
Join our team and make a difference this summer! Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator and the Camp Leadership Team, the Head Counselors are responsible for creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for campers ages 5–15. Head Counselors will assist the Camp Director in maintaining camp operations running efficiently. Head Counselors will ensure compliance with all policies and safety standards while providing a variety of activities such as indoor and outdoor games, sports and recreation, arts and crafts, field trips, and special events.

Kyle 2026 Summer Camp is a nine-week day program running Monday through Friday, May 26th - July 31st, from 7:00 am to 5:45 pm. June 29th – July 3rd, a camp break will occur. Serving students entering 1st through 9th grade, the camp offers a dynamic schedule of indoor and outdoor activities.
- Lead and implement camp activities under the supervision of camp leadership.
- Ensure safety protocols during all activities, including field trips and swimming.
- Supervise campers in water/pool settings at least twice a week.
- Maintain positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff.
- Support fellow counselors during emergencies and enforce camp rules.
- Follow camp schedules and participate in all activities.
- Able to work May 26th – July 31st (Monday–Friday); shifts may vary between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
- Required to attend training in the evening or on weekends leading up to camp.
- Perform other duties assigned by camp leadership.
- Strong organizational and task management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with camp staff, campers, and parents/guardians.

- Previous experience in childcare, recreation, education, or a related field
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 21 years old
- One (1) year of experience in summer camp, day camp, childcare, coaching, or youth development setting.
- Obtain a certification in Adult and Child CPR & Standard First Aid within 1 month of employment.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver’s License.
- Preferred previous experience in Kyle Summer Camp or Spring Break Camp programs.
While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, use hands to oversee or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee may be routinely required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Work may routinely require the employee to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This job requires the individual to frequently work outdoors and indoors in a variety of environmental conditions, including elevated temperatures, humidity, moisture, and distracting noises. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
