As we continue to expand our operations, we’re searching for a skilled Critical Facilities Engineer to join our team.
YOUR ROLEAs a CFE at Skybox, you will play a vital role in ensuring the uninterrupted operation of our cutting‑edge data centers. This position demands advanced technical expertise, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to develop and implement technical programs that enhance facility performance and reliability. The CFE will drive complex troubleshooting efforts, oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs, and contribute to the strategic direction of facility operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead Troubleshooting and Repair
:
Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to critical data center equipment, including HVAC systems, electrical systems, generators, fire suppression systems, etc. - Root Cause Analysis
:
Conduct thorough investigations into equipment failures to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. - Develop and Maintain SOPs
:
Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for critical equipment maintenance and emergency response. - Manage Vendor Relationships
:
Oversee the work of contractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards. - Mentor and Train
:
Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and technicians, fostering their technical skills and professional development. - Conduct Facility Assessments
:
Regularly assess the facility to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with industry best practices. - Maintain Documentation
:
Meticulously document all maintenance activities, incidents, and assessments within our computerized maintenance management system. - Champion Safety
:
Promote a safety‑first culture by leading safety training programs and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. - Embrace Continuous Improvement
:
Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of our processes, promoting a culture of innovation and operational excellence. - Participate in On-Call Rotation
:
Be available to respond to emergencies and critical incidents outside of normal working hours.
- 7+ years of experience in critical facility operations, data centers, or related fields.
- Advanced technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and control systems.
- Experience designing and managing technical programs to enhance facility performance.
- In‑depth knowledge of data center infrastructure and best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).
- Electrical/Mechanical certifications are highly desired.
- Ability to work overtime or on call, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels.
- Moderate physical labor is required. May lift 45 pounds or more, use fingers and hands, work on varying heights and ladders, crouch or crawl, and walk uneven terrain on job sites.
- May be required to participate in on‑call rotation.
