SummaryThis position is responsible for overseeing the distribution of medications to people with various physical or mental health conditions; communicating with local physicians to determine the type of medication and dosage for a customer; taking inventory of pharmaceutical drugs to reorder them based on general demand; interacting with pharmacy customers to give them their prescriptions and answer medication questions.
Duties and Responsibilities- Receives and fills prescriptions.
- Communicates with medical professionals about patients and their medications.
- Listens to patients’ reports of symptoms; provides suggestions for over-the-counter medications.
- Accurately measures, prepares and distributes proper medications to the patients that need them.
- Keeps track of inventory.
- Reviews and executes physician’s prescriptions checking their appropriateness and legality.
- Organizes the pharmacy in an efficient manner to make the identification of products easier and faster.
- Maintains full control over delivering, stocking and labeling medicine and other products; monitors their condition to prevent expiring or deterioration.
- Listens carefully to customers to interpret their needs and issues and offer information and counsel.
- Prepares medicine when appropriate, uses correct dosages and material for each individual patient.
- Keeps records of patient dispensing history as well as checking PMP for controls.
- Keeps abreast of advancements in medicine by attending conferences and seminars and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
- Complies with all applicable legal rules, regulations and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm
D) accredited by the accreditation council for pharmacy education. - Current state‑approved license to practice – Texas State Board of Pharmacy License.
