The Service Operations Manager position is responsible for managing overall operations, including sales, service operations, bid preparations, and operations, and for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control, and safety measures as established and set by the company. The Operations Manager will ensure safe and efficient operations, serve as a company representative to our vendor base, enhance the operational procedures, systems, and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, management reporting, and look for opportunities to implement systems.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Operations Manager duties and responsibilities may include interviewing, selection, and hiring; training new and existing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; authoring and discussing employee performance appraisals; addressing employee performance and corrective action plans; employee motivation and rewards; and organizing the budget of the department in collaboration with the director.
The Operations Manager role requires a bachelor’s degree in business management, at least 10 years of experience in the commercial aquatics industry in a leadership role, familiarity with a variety of pool industry concepts, practices, and procedures, extensive operational management experience to plan and accomplish goals and key performance indicators, and the ability to lead and direct the work of others with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
Reports to the General Manager and directly manages and directs service staff.
- Recruit, select, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel, and discipline employees.
- Communicate job expectations; plan, monitor, appraise, and review job contributions.
- Plan and review compensation actions.
- Enforce policies and procedures.
- Contribute operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans to improve productivity, quality, and customer‑service standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends.
- Forecast requirements; prepare an annual budget; schedule expenditures; analyze variances; initiate corrective actions.
- Develop operating systems to improve productivity.
- Analyze and improve organizational process and workflow, employee and space requirements, and equipment layout; implement changes.
