Position: Security Officer (Campus Safety & Operations Support)

Location: Northeast Austin, TX

Compensation: $19–$26/hour (based on experience)

Schedule: Full-Time or Part-Time (aligned to school hours + occasional events)

We are looking for a reliable, proactive, and student‑centered Security Officer who will play a critical role in ensuring campus safety while also supporting daily school operations.

Position Overview

The Security Officer at UPA is more than a traditional guard role. This individual is a visible, trusted presence on campus, responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment while also supporting operational needs such as setup, logistics, and basic facility upkeep.

This role requires situational awareness, professionalism, physical capability, and a strong commitment to student safety and school culture.

Key Responsibilities Campus Safety & Supervision
  • Monitor and secure all campus entry and exit points
  • Conduct routine patrols of the building and surrounding areas
  • Support arrival, dismissal, and transition procedures to ensure student safety
  • De‑escalate conflicts and respond to incidents in a calm, professional manner
  • Collaborate with school leadership on safety protocols and emergency response
  • Maintain accurate incident reports and documentation
Student & Staff Support
  • Build positive, professional relationships with students while maintaining clear boundaries
  • Serve as a consistent adult presence reinforcing school expectations
  • Support hallway supervision and ensure orderly transitions
  • Assist staff in maintaining a safe and structured learning environment Facilities & Operations Support
    • Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and large items for classrooms, events, and daily operations
    • Perform minor maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, basic repairs, reporting larger issues)
    • Support event setup and breakdown (tables, chairs, materials, etc.)
    • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of shared spaces
    • Respond quickly to urgent operational needs across campus
    Physical & Logistical Duties
    • Perform heavy lifting (up to 50+ lbs) as needed
    • Be on feet for extended periods, actively monitoring campus
    • Navigate indoor and outdoor spaces in varying weather conditions
    Qualifications
    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, military, or school safety preferred
    • Experience working in a school or youth‑centered environment is a strong plus
    • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions quickly
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Physically capable of lifting, moving, and supporting operational needs
    • Flexible, team‑oriented, and willing to step in where needed
