Swim Instructor Aide; Water Safety Instructor Aide

As a Swim Instructor Aide for the City, you will be assisting in teaching various levels of the City Swim Lesson Program to participants ages 6 months and older, to ensure swimmers are learning water safety, proper swim technique, and increasing their abilities.

• Adequately cover all skills required for a given level.
• Ensure the safety of facility patrons.
• Regularly and respectfully interact with parents and/or participants to provide feedback.
• Other duties as assigned by supervision/management.

• Must be at least 14 years old by the time swim instruction begins and be able to attend Water Safety Instructor Training.
• Must possess a current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification or be able to complete certification.

• Visual and auditory sensory perception.
• Excellent swimming skills to include rescue techniques.
• During rescue operations or training will be required to lift, carry, pull and/or push a person, with assistance if needed.
• Daytime, evening and weekend shifts possible. Holiday shifts also possible.
• Exposure to large crowds, noises and extreme temperature variations possible.
• Frequent sitting or standing.
• Constant alert and careful viewing of the pool.
• Occasional strenuous physical activity, including carrying, pulling, pushing, dragging, and holding up to 30 lbs. of furniture/equipment.
• During rescue operations or training will be required to lift, carry, pull and/or push a person, with assistance if needed.
