Position Overview
Customer Service Representative III (0136) – Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), Vehicle Titles and Registration Division, Pharr Regional Service Center. This role provides complex customer service to the public, county tax offices, and industry stakeholders related to vehicle title and registration activities. Work involves handling confidential correspondence, enforcing State and Federal laws, and collaborating with external agencies.
Responsibilities- Deliver quality customer service to the public, government entities, and industry stakeholders for title and registration inquiries.
- Communicate via phone, e‑mail, and correspondence in person and in writing.
- Prepare, edit, and route mail and documents; track receipt and processing.
- Retrieve and verify information from master files, mainframe systems, and databases.
- Enter data into databases, approve or reject issuance of documents.
- Research information from manuals and electronic resources to resolve complex problems; collaborate with other agencies to provide solutions.
- Maintain specialized expertise in TxDMV laws, regulations, policies, and procedures for issuing temporary registration, NAFTA permits, refunds, and corrected title requests.
- Process customer applications, function as cashier for fee collection, and reconcile daily receipts and inventory.
- Participate in team meetings to develop best‑practice procedures.
- Process registration in person, by telephone, and through the TxIRP online application.
- Travel up to 10% of the time, including occasional car and plane travel; may require extended hours, evenings, or weekends.
- Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. - Experience:
Two (2) years’ experience in a high‑volume customer service or general office administration environment.
- County experience in Vehicle Titles & Registration.
- Customer‑facing experience at a bank or credit union.
- Spanish fluency (advanced level).
Travel:
May travel up to 10% of the time, including overnight and by car or plane. May require working extended hours, some evenings, and weekends.
Registration: A valid Class "C" driver's license is required. Non‑Texas residents must obtain a Texas driver’s license within 90 days of moving to Texas. A satisfactory driving record is required.
