Cold Deli Clerk- South Pharr

Position: Cold Deli Clerk- [South Pharr]
Job Purpose:

To provide exceptional customer service while preparing and serving a variety of high-quality deli products, maintaining a clean and organized deli area, and adhering to food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide friendly and efficient customer service, assisting customers with product selection, answering questions, and addressing concerns.

Slice, weigh, and package a variety of deli meats and cheeses to customer specifications.

Prepare made-to-order sandwiches, salads, and other deli items according to established recipes and procedures.

Maintain a clean and organized deli counter, including stocking and rotating products, cleaning equipment, and ensuring proper food storage.

Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handwashing, temperature control, and product handling.

Monitor product quality and freshness, rotating stock and removing outdated items.

Operate and maintain deli equipment, such as slicers, scales, and wrapping machines.

Assist with inventory management, including receiving deliveries and stocking shelves.

May be responsible for opening or closing the deli department, including cash handling and reconciliation.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Deli Manager or other supervisory staff.

Additional Duties:
Management reserves the right to assign additional tasks as necessary to support store operations. Employees will be provided with proper training and protective equipment for any and all assigned tasks that require special handling.

Required

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Required Experience:

Previous experience in a deli or food service environment preferred.

Required

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to operate and maintain deli equipment (slicers, scales, etc.).Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work as part of a team.

Basic math and reading skills.

Ability to stand for extended periods.

- Ability to lift and carry moderate weight (up to 50 lbs).

- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
