ResponsibilitiesAs a Full‑Time Laborer at the City of Pharr, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the city’s infrastructure by assisting with the installation of water line extensions, new service lines, hydrants, and valves. Your responsibilities will include repairing broken lines through the replacement of sections or the installation of repair clamps, ensuring the reliability of our water services. This position demands physical stamina, as you’ll perform heavy manual labor related to the repair, maintenance, and construction of water and sewer lines and their associated components.
Additionally, you’ll dig trenches and lay sewer pipes and water lines, actively contributing to essential projects that strengthen our community.
QualificationsTo thrive as a Full‑Time Laborer, a variety of skills and knowledge are essential. You should have a solid understanding of the methods, materials, equipment, and techniques involved in the extension, repair, and maintenance of both the water distribution system and the sanitary sewer system. Familiarity with the occupational hazards associated with this work and the ability to implement necessary safety precautions are critical for ensuring a safe work environment.
Additionally, you must be adept at interpreting written documents relevant to the tasks at hand and proficient in operating a backhoe in restricted spaces and adverse conditions.
Moreover, possessing the ability to detect leaks, stoppages, and malfunctions in water mains and sewer lines, and determining the most efficient repair methods will contribute significantly to your success in this role and ensure the reliable operation of essential services.
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and techniques used in the extension, repair, and maintenance of the water distribution system and sanitary sewer system.
