Shop Technician
The Shop Technician is responsible for servicing and repairing equipment in the shop. Essential functions include removal and installation of components by following the appropriate service manual, understanding and utilizing various exchange items, safely operating, inspecting machines, vehicles and/or engines to diagnose defects, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing all components of equipment, formally documenting the work done on the equipment, completing work assignments and assigned training within allotted time, maintaining good work habits, and complying with all safety/company regulations, and performing other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications include an associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, experience in troubleshooting and repairing diesel-powered heavy equipment, basic computer skills, maintaining good work habits, reading and comprehending simple instructions, effectively presenting information, ability to perform mathematical operations, dealing with problems involving a few concrete variables, and owning proper tools to perform required repairs.
Typical physical activity includes occasionally lifting 75 pounds, reaching and using arms with full range of motion, enduring prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and squatting, exerting push and pull forces with arms, using hands to grasp hand tools and parts, climbing onto and operating equipment, enduring prolonged forward and overhead arm positions, performing work in cramped spaces and/or high places, and wearing common protective or safety equipment.
Typical environmental conditions include working indoors around moving mechanical parts, exposure to weather extremes, noise level may be loud at times, exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment, and performing work in cramped spaces and/or high places.
