Distribution Yard Crewmember

Job Summary

The Distribution Yard Crew member is responsible for activities related to receiving, stocking, pulling, loading, and moving materials in the yard and warehouse facilities.

• Load and unload products safely and accurately.
• Move, stock, and rearrange building materials in the yard and warehouse.
• Perform routine safety checks on forklifts according to company guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the lumberyard and warehouses.
• Ensure proper loading of merchandise according to loading patterns and weight distribution requirements to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
• Maintain inventory within assigned area by stocking, facing, straightening, and cleaning items.
• Covers exposed materials, when required, to prevent weather damage.
• Cut lumber and other related materials as requested by the customer.
• Operate a forklift and attend all store meetings and training sessions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision.
• Follow directions and work well in a team.
• Knowledge of weight distribution and loading patterns.
• Adjust machine or vehicle controls quickly and accurately.
• Successfully complete all company training and certification requirements, including obtaining McCoy’s forklift certification.
• Be available and willing to work overtime as necessary.

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Successful completion of on-the-job training.

• Prolonged periods of walking, standing, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
• Use the three-point hold when getting into trucks and/or forklifts.
• Perform repetitive movements over long periods.
• Lift up to 80 pounds at times, occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, and push or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
• Work in various types of weather.
