Early Childhood Education Teacher Job Description
POSITION TITLE:
Early Childhood Education - SUPERVISES:
Directly supervises learners assigned to his/her classes. Indirectly supervises all students served by the school.
JOB GOAL:
To create an early childhood education environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils, to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total elementary program, in accordance with each pupil's ability to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Alabama Teacher Certificate.
2. Proper endorsement in Early Childhood Education.
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

To be determined commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide early education learning experiences in language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, physical education, and music to pupils, utilizing course of study mandated by the Board of Education and the Alabama State Department of Education.Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school district.Develop and use instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of pupils with wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities.Provide individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and help the pupils make a satisfactory transition from the home through early elementary education.Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve effective participation in all activities without interfering with the naturally informal atmosphere of early education.Evaluate academic and social growth of pupils, keeps appropriate records, and informs parents accordingly.Communicate with parents through a variety of means. Hold parent conferences to discuss the individual pupil's progress and interpret the school program.Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.Maintain an auditable record of pupil attendance and makes daily reports.Control assigned district-owned instructional equipment and supplies to prevent loss or abuse.Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive environment in the classroom where several kinds of activities may be taking place simultaneously.Evaluate, select and requisition books, instructional aids, equipment, and instructional supplies and maintain required inventory records.Maintain professional competence through inservice education activities.Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.Prepare written lesson plans with appropriate objectives and utilizes appropriate state standards, guides, tasks lists, etc.Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district's and school's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, policy, and administrative regulation.Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional environment when required or requested to so under reasonable circumstances.Attend and participate in faculty and other meetings as scheduled by administration.Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.Maintain sponsorship of student activities as requested.Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
