Insight Global is seeking Data Center Cable Technicians to support a large-scale data center infrastructure project in Montgomery, Alabama. This role involves installing, cabling, testing, and maintaining critical IT and network infrastructure within a data center environment. Candidates should be comfortable working in physically demanding conditions and willing to travel as project needs require.
Location: Montgomery, AL
Duration: 1-Year Contract (Potential for Extensions)
Start Date: 9/28/2026
- $22.00-$27.00/hr for Technicians
- $28.00-$32.00/hr for Leads
- Expect 10+ hours of OT each week, paid at 1.5x your standard rate.
- $68.00/day in Per Diem for those living more than 50 miles from Montgomery, which works out to about $476/week or $1,900/month tax-free.
- If you're traveling from outside a 50-mile radius, the client will provide housing/lodging.
Schedule
- Shift: Day Shift
- Hours: Typically, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Expected Weekly Hours: 50+ hours
Key Responsibilities
- Racking & Mounting: Lift, position, and secure servers, network equipment, firewalls, and Power Distribution Units (PDUs) into racks and cabinets.
- Cabling & Routing: Install, route, terminate, and dress copper and fiber optic cabling.
Follow structured cabling standards and cable management best practices to maintain airflow and organization. - Labeling & Documentation: Label ports, cables, hardware, and equipment accurately.
Update asset inventories, tracking systems, and project documentation. - Hardware Testing & Troubleshooting: Power on devices and perform basic hardware diagnostics.
Verify network connectivity, power connectivity, and equipment functionality. - Decommissioning & Upgrades: Remove, replace, and upgrade network and server hardware as needed.
Support equipment migrations and refresh efforts.
Requirements
- Basic understanding of:
Data center hardware, Structured cabling, Fiber and copper infrastructure, and Basic troubleshooting processes - OSHA 10 Certification (~must be obtained prior to start date)
- Ability to pass a background check (~ No felonies or violent misdemeanors within the last 7 years)
- Ability to pass a drug screen, including THC (~Screening will be conducted onsite on the first day)
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to and from the work site
- Willingness to travel and remain away from home for up to 3 weeks at a time (~ Typically 2 weeks, but may extend to 3 weeks based on project needs)
