Position: Equipment Operator Semi-Skilled Class B CDL (Streets and Drainage)

Job Duties

Provides patient care as directed: administers medication, including oral and intramuscular medications; performs treatments; assists with Doctor’s Sick Call as indicated; assists with nursing management of chronic care clinics; responds to emergencies; provides emergency care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as indicated; performs subjective and objective data collection of patients as indicated; collects vital signs and timely documents all findings; collects urine or other body fluid specimens when indicated;

prepares patients for release or transfer to other facilities (intra system or out to court) by reviewing patient care, completing intra system Transfer Summaries or Release Summaries; ensures discharge medication orders are completed and timely forwarded to pharmacy services; participates in work-related training and all institution training exercises as assigned. Provides assistance to other healthcare staff; investigates and documents problem areas or areas of concern;

reviews shift report from preceding shift(s); assists physicians with medical procedures; assumes duties of other nurses during absences; counsels/provides education to patients regarding healthcare maintenance and prevention of disease; participates in Quality Assurance activities. Performs administrative duties as indicated; attends meetings, schedules multidisciplinary team meetings; performs or assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies; assists ancillary staff including Health Information Technicians and medical schedulers as needed to ensure patient care needs are met;

performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723.09 Ohio Revised Code. Effective January 1, 1989, must also have card from one of following to verify appropriate preparation to administer medications:
National Association of Practical Nurse Education & Service, Inc. (NAPNES), Ohio Organization of Practical Nurse Educators (OOPNE), or Ohio Board of Nursing.

Note:

Licensed Practical Nurses who administer dialysis treatment must possess Certification in IV Therapy pursuant to Section 4723.17 Ohio Revised Code.

Major Worker Characteristics

Knowledge of skilled licensed practical nursing procedures; pharmacology; client/patient care; first-aid; CPR; general hospital practices & procedures; agency, institutional, hospital or clinic practices & procedures*; HIPAA regulations & standards; human relations; inventory control; employee training & development*. Skill in use of medical equipment (e.g., respirator, dialysis machine, sterilizer, oxygen equipment, blood pressure cuff); hypodermics; operation of personal computer. Ability to understand practical field of study;

deal with some abstract but mostly concrete variables; recognize unusual or threatening conditions & take appropriate emergency action; develop good rapport with patients &/or residents; understand manuals & verbal instructions associated with practical nursing; demonstrate dexterity to administer injections & perform medical treatments & strength to move, reposition or restrain patients.
