Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Engineer ensures the reliability, performance, and safety of production equipment and facility systems in a manufacturing environment. This role supports both day-to-day maintenance operations and long-term improvement initiatives through hands-on troubleshooting, preventive and predictive maintenance planning, and participation in capital equipment projects. The Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in maximizing equipment uptime, improving manufacturing processes, and maintaining compliance with established safety and quality standards.
Positions are available at multiple technician levels on both first and second shifts following a 2-2-3 schedule.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production equipment to quickly restore operation and minimize downtime.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and extend asset life.
- Support capital equipment projects by providing technical input on installation, commissioning, and integration with existing systems.
- Diagnose and repair equipment using electrical and mechanical test methods, tools, and instrumentation.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals to identify faults and implement repairs.
- Conduct PLC troubleshooting to resolve automation and control system issues affecting production processes.
- Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to document work orders, track maintenance history, and plan maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with established safety procedures and quality standards.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in equipment performance, maintenance practices, and facility systems.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 25 years of maintenance engineering or industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics, used in industrial equipment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, controls, and instrumentation.
- Hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting and automation systems in an industrial setting.
- Ability to perform detailed troubleshooting and maintenance repair on complex production equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
- Experience working with CMMS systems such as MP2, Maintenance Connection, or similar platforms.
- Solid understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance principles and practices.
- Industrial maintenance with exposure to high-volume manufacturing operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Comfort working with both electrical and mechanical aspects of production equipment.
- Ability to analyze equipment performance data and recommend improvements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently when diagnosing complex issues.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with production, engineering, and maintenance teams.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to following safety and quality procedures at all times.
