Description
The City of Irvine seeks an energetic and service-oriented individual to join the Irvine Youth Employment Services (iYES) section of the Community Services Department. This person will work very closely with local employers and job seekers to assist both with filling their employment needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist job seekers, typically ages 15-25, obtain and maintain employment.
- Work with job seekers to identify employment interests, skills and abilities.
- Work with local employers to identify staffing needs, develop job opportunities and fill vacancies.
- Perform general clerical duties and data entry.
- Assist with job fairs and special events.
- Successfully interact with the general public, patrons, staff and supervisors.
- HOURS:
Must be able to work during core program hours of 1:00‑4:00 pm, Monday‑Thursday. Some evening and weekend availability is preferred.
- One year of related work experience and two years of college or university level work in business, human resources or related field, preferred, or any combination of experience and education that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Excellent computer skills a plus:
Microsoft Word, Publisher and Power Point. - Experience working with youth, ages 15‑25, preferred.
- Ability to show initiative and be self‑motivated with a positive approach.
- Customer focus with excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with an ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

THIS IS A NON‑BENEFITED POSITION WITH AN ANNUAL SCHEDULE CAP OF 999 HOURS PER FISCAL YEAR.
Part‑time employees must contribute 4.3% of base pay to the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS). The City contributes 3.2%. Contribution rates are subject to change.
The City does not participate in Social Security except for the mandatory Medicare Program.
