Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Staff Accountant role based in Philadelphia, MS. This position is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate or early-career professional who wants hands-on experience in both audit and tax. As a Staff Accountant, you will work directly with experienced professionals and gain exposure to a variety of clients and industries. Because we are a local CPA firm, you will have the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibilities, work closely with clients, and learn multiple areas of public accounting.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with audits, reviews, compilations, and other accounting engagements
  • Prepare audit work papers and perform testing of financial statement accounts
  • Assist with financial statement preparation
  • Prepare individual and business income tax returns
  • Assist with bookkeeping, payroll, and other client accounting services as needed
  • Communicate with clients to obtain information and resolve questions
  • Perform accounting research and assist with special projects
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and well-documented work
  • Work collaboratively with partners and other members of the firm

The Staff Accountant will handle day-to-day accounting tasks such as posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining general ledgers. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, assisting with tax return preparation, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. The role also involves analyzing financial data, identifying variances, and providing clear documentation to support audits and compliance requirements. The Staff Accountant will collaborate with team members to deliver accurate, timely financial information and support client-focused accounting solutions.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or expected completion of an accounting degree
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Knowledge of accounting and tax principles
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Willingness to learn and accept feedback
  • Professional, dependable, and able to work well with clients and coworkers

CPA eligibility or plans to pursue CPA licensure are preferred but not required.
