Sr. Accountant
Robert Half is looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support financial reporting, project analysis, and compliance activities for a long-term contract opportunity based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This Sr. Accountant will contribute to month-end close, budgeting oversight, and audit preparation while partnering with operational leaders to improve financial visibility and accountability. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound analytical judgment, and the ability to communicate financial matters clearly across a range of stakeholders.
As a Senior Accountant your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Evaluate monthly project and division-level financial results, identify variances, and work closely with project leaders to keep spending and timelines aligned with approved plans.
- Develop quarterly management reports that summarize financial performance, highlight key trends, and support leadership decision-making.
- Participate in the monthly close process by preparing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and reviewing reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
- Track benefit-related expenses such as healthcare, pension, and other fringe costs to help ensure budgets remain accurate and well controlled.
- Advise department leadership and project teams on accounting treatment, financial procedures, and grant-related administration at the project or contract level.
- Enhance reporting processes by analyzing organization-wide budgets and forecasting expenditure patterns to improve monitoring of cost trends.
- Support annual audit and compliance activities, including preparation of schedules, gathering documentation, and responding to audit requests.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and assist with indirect cost and post-employment benefit analyses.
- Provide cross-functional support for accounting, payroll, accounts payable, purchasing, and other finance-related initiatives, including special projects and process improvements.
