Staff Accountant

Robert Half is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support accounting operations for a higher education organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This long-term Contract Staff Accountant position offers the opportunity to contribute to core financial processes, maintain accurate records, and support timely reporting in a collaborative environment. The ideal Staff Accountant candidate will bring strong experience in payables, reconciliations, and general ledger activity while partnering effectively with internal teams and external vendors.

Your Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Manage a large volume of invoices, vendor disbursements, and employee expense submissions with a strong focus on accuracy and deadlines.
• Review vendor account activity, perform statement reconciliations, and address billing or payment discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Support monthly close procedures by preparing reconciliations, assisting with ledger balancing, and contributing to financial reporting activities.
• Record and post journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger balances and support overall accounting integrity.
• Work closely with departments across the organization and with outside vendors to ensure transactions align with established financial policies and procedures.
• Assist with tax-related accounting tasks, including support for corporate tax, sales tax, and related compliance documentation where needed.
