Responsibilities:
- Manage a large volume of accounts payable activity, ensuring invoices, vendor disbursements, and employee expense submissions are reviewed and processed accurately within established deadlines.
- Compare vendor account statements against internal records, research variances, and coordinate with appropriate parties to resolve billing or payment concerns.
- Support month-end accounting tasks by preparing reconciliations, assisting with closing entries, and organizing documentation needed for financial reporting.
- Record and review journal entries to maintain the accuracy of the general ledger and uphold accounting integrity across transactions.
- Partner with departments across the organization as well as external vendors to promote adherence to financial policies, documentation standards, and approval procedures.
- Assist with tax-related accounting activities, including support for corporate tax matters, sales tax tracking, and preparation inputs for required filings.
- Monitor account activity for inconsistencies, identify issues that may affect reporting accuracy, and recommend timely corrective action when needed. Requirements - Experience in staff accounting or a similar accounting role with responsibility for payables, reconciliations, and financial record maintenance.
- Working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entry preparation, and month-end close support.
- Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and processes related to corporate tax return support.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies, analyze account activity, and resolve issues with strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage high-volume transactional work while meeting deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external vendors.
- Proficiency with standard accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for reconciliation, reporting, and transaction review.
