Position: SCHOOL SECRETARY

School Secretary for Palmyra Middle/High School

Position Type:
Part-Time 10-Month Secretary Summer

Hours:

8 days at per diem rate; dates negotiable

Location:

Palmyra Middle/High School Main Office

Start Date:

September 1, 2026 + 2026 Summer Dates TBD Final date to receive applications:

Reports to:

Mr. Daniel Licata, Principal Salary Range: $25,000.00 to $35,000.00

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum experience as determined by the board
  • Good word processing skills
  • Knowledge of automated office equipment and efficient office procedures
  • Good telephone skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Required criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or resident alien status
  • Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of employment.
Job Goal

To carry out all secretarial and clerical duties necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the office.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Receives and routes incoming calls and correspondence.
  • Performs usual office routines.
  • Types correspondence, notices and reports.
  • Maintains a well-organized up-to-date filing system.
  • Operates all business machines necessary to complete reports and clerical work required in the operation of the office.
  • Arranges meetings, prepares agendas and handles follow-up activities as necessary.
  • Assists, logs in, and directs visitors to the schools.
  • Maintains confidentiality as required and appropriate.
  • Performs other tasks related to the efficient operation of the office as assigned.

Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education in accordance with the negotiated agreement. Annual Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with NJ State law and the provisions of the board's policy on evaluations FLSA Status:
Non-exempt
