Responsibilities- Data Entry Accuracy: Enter information into agency systems and review results for correctness and compliance
- Application Processing: Handle incoming applications, complete clearances, register documents, and distribute materials according to procedures
- Inquiry Review: Interpret documents, complete transactions, and record results to ensure that all clearances are completed on time
- Telephone Support: Answer calls, relay messages, and provide phone coverage to deliver timely communication
- File Maintenance: Create, maintain, and update paper and electronic files according to procedures
- Computer Operation: Operate office equipment such as personal computers, copy machines, and telephones
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch
- Travel and overtime as needed.
- WORK CONDITIONS:
Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. - DHS provides excellent benefits, contractual pay increases, paid holidays and leave entitlements, opportunity for advancement and shift selection in addition to a great work environment.
- Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part‑time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you may report to the headquarters office in Carlisle, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes).

- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- Graduation from high school
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.

- Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Cumberland County. If no eligible candidates who live within Cumberland County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.
- You must pass a background investigation.
