DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position supports the clerical operations of the Elk County Assistance Office to help keep income maintenance programs running effectively. The role includes direct support for customers, staff, and daily office processes. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Application Processing:
Enter applicant information, complete file clearances, and assign case numbers during the registration process - Reception Duties:
Greet walk-in customers and assist with front desk needs - Phone Support:
Handle incoming calls and manage messages received through the office voicemail resource account - Document Imaging:
Scan and electronically store client records received through mail, drop-off, email, fax, or online submission - Benefit Card Handling:
Process Electronic Benefit Transfer cards and review account details as requested by staff - Mail Processing:
Sort and distribute incoming mail as well as prepare outgoing mail and items received in the office drop box

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
- Work Conditions:
Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language. - Telework:
This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ridgway, PA.
The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes). - You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. - Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
