THE POSITION

This position supports highway construction projects by assisting with inspection, documentation, and the review of materials and field activities. Your primary responsibilities will focus on ensuring that roads and structures meet safety and quality standards. As a Transportation Technician, you will perform the following duties:
- Construction Inspection:
Observe construction activities, check measurements, and review materials for compliance with contract requirements - Documentation Review:
Record work completed, track materials, and maintain accurate project documentation - Traffic Control Checks:
Inspect work zone signs and devices to verify proper placement and maintenance - Field Calculations:
Perform routine math calculations, draw sketches, and note field changes during construction activities - Plan Understanding:
Read and research project plans, drawings, and manuals needed for inspection tasks - Material Testing:
Assist with testing materials and interpreting specifications for sampling and inspection
- Full‑time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch
- Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes)
- One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work
- One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics
- An equivalent combination of experience and training
- You must meet the PA residency requirement
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
