NOVO News is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Full-Time News Anchor–Reporter to lead morning newscasts across assigned markets. The ideal candidate will have prior news reporting experience. Broadcast news writing experience is preferred; however, strong print or digital news writing backgrounds will be considered and adapted to the radio format.

This role is ideal for a journalist who thrives in an independent work environment, values accuracy and timeliness, and understands how to condense complex stories into compelling, listener-friendly scripts.

The News Anchor–Reporter is responsible for producing concise, relevant, and timely morning newscasts for assigned radio markets.

• Researching and compiling local news stories daily from:
  • Local newspapers serving assigned markets
  • Local television stations
  • Additional credible sources as needed
• Selecting and condensing 2–3 stories per market into a 1-minute newscast format
• Utilizing Google Gemini (within the Google Workspace environment) to assist in condensing copy
• Carefully proofreading and editing all AI-assisted scripts to ensure factual accuracy, clarity, and broadcast quality
• Voicing each completed newscast for assigned markets
• Transmitting newscasts via Nex Gen by 6:00 a.m. daily
• Uploading audio backups to the radio

• Uploading finalized audio files to Buzzsprout for automatic distribution to each station’s podcast section within the radio

All newscasts must be written, recorded, transmitted, and archived before the 6:00 a.m. deadline.

Required:

• Prior news reporting and writing experience
• Strong editing and proofreading skills
• Ability to meet strict daily deadlines (completion by 6:00 a.m.)
• Clear, professional broadcast voice and delivery
• Strong news judgment and ethical standards
• Proficiency with audio recording and basic production tools

Preferred:

• Broadcast news writing experience
• Familiarity with Nex Gen or similar radio automation systems
• Experience using AI-assisted writing tools responsibly
• Podcast publishing experience
• Experience developing enterprise stories
