Descriptionof Work
This position supports travelers by providing accurate information, helpful guidance, and strong customer service at Welcome Center facilities. As a Tourist Information Counselor, you will perform the following duties:
- Traveler Assistance: Provide directions, lodging information, and guidance to visitors seeking help
- Tourism Outreach: Support special programs, tours, and events that strengthen partnerships with tourism groups
- Center Operations: Maintain organized displays, stock supplies, and keep the Welcome Center clean
- Information Handling: Prepare daily reports, track visitor counts, and manage literature inventory
- Issue Response: Address unexpected situations by resolving routine concerns or contacting proper personnel
- Clerical Support: Complete general administrative tasks and assist supervisors with ongoing projects
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Part-time temporary "on call" employment.
- Shifts vary and working hours are based on operational need.
- On call shifts can range from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 7 days per week, (temporarily hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM).
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in work involving public contact;
or - An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be willing and able to work in and commute to Tioga County Welcome Center, Route 15 southbound, 7 miles south of PA/NY border, Tioga, PA 16946.
- You must have the ability to report to work within 1 hour of being called in.
- You must have front facing public contact experience.
- You must have experience working with computers.
- You must have experience answering phones, composing emails, compiling reports, tracking office activities and inventory, entering data, and filing.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Five or more years of full-time experience in work involving front facing public contact.
- High school diploma or equivalent
