Walnut Street Theatre, America's oldest theatre, seeks experienced Assistant Technical Director to join our fast-paced production team. The ATD works closely with Technical Director in the implementing all scenic elements for WST’s mainstage, studio, and children's theatre productions; supervising all scene shop staC and apprentices, and budgeting of all scenic designs.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with TD to engineer, develop, and draft all scenic elements and shop drawings using AutoCAD
- Assist TD in providing accurate material and labor estimates for all scenic, paint, and props for all WST productions
- Research material and build methods for scenic elements
- Maintain build and load-in schedules
- Schedule and supervise all shop personnel
- Provide training for WST shop apprentices
- Order materials as required
- Assist the TD in the scheduling and arranging of scenery, props, and tool transportation between the shop and theatre
- Attend all load-in, load-out and technical rehearsals as needed
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all tools, soft goods, and stored scenic elements
- Foster a safe, positive working environment
- Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD drafting, including 3D drafting techniques
- Minimum 3-5 years professional scene shop experience, including experience in Technical Direction
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 oCice suite
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient in theatrical rigging, electrical wiring, and CNC Programming
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to drive a 16’ box truck in a city environment
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- $60,000-$62,000 annually with excellent benefits package and bonus potential
